Today's Me Made Item:
I made this vest yesterday. I am officially bad at sewing these days, I made so many rookie mistakes, I was quite ashamed of myself...
However, I persevered, and finished it, despite wanting to quit several times during the day! I don't usually do that, I usually stop if I'm not sure about the quality/awesomenss of a project that I'm working on. But wanting to show this off as today's item made me finish it, and I'm very happy that I did. I'll make some adjustments to the pattern, then I can make myself another one out of different fabric :)

Today's Me Made item:
I made this little headband for a theatre production set in the late 1930s. It was to go with a cute little jacket and pencil skirt outfit worn by a girl playing a reporter. It was to be a little necktie, but it never really worked with the outfit, so it got deposited in my endless stash of fabrics. I found it recently when organizing my bags of fabrics into plastic boxes of fabrics.
This was perfect for wearing for a day of sewing, the results of which I'll be posting tomorrow as my Me Made item :)

My item for Saturday:
I made this one afternoon a few years back. Unfortunatly, it's not very practical with the dangling bits, so I don't wear it often. However, I thought it would be fine for wearing on a Saturday to run a few errands and pop in to work to send a few emails.
Thought I better post a picture of me actually wearing it, so here goes:

Me Made Item for today:
The vest thingy I am wearing is my item that I made. It's a mesh (but a nice looking one), it has lots of panels, it goes quite short at the back, and then the front hangs down almost to the floor. It wasn't my intention for the front to be sooo long, but the fabric stretched, and I am very short so, it just kind of happened that way. I usually tie the front long bits in a knot, and that looks quite cool too, but for the photo you couldn't really see the piece, so I decided to take the knots out.
I'm finding it increasingly difficult to sift through terrible photos of myself and then pick one to share with everyone, but I shall persist and hopefully I'm not offending too many people out there...
Happy weekend everyone!

Accessories Made by Mum
My mum is the most amazing knitter that I have ever met.
I am lucky enough to occasionally convince her to make something for me. Below are two of my latest most favourite things she's made for me (though one I stole, it wasn't intended for me!)
This is a hat from a Slouchy Hat booklet I bought that's full of great patterns for slouchy hats. I also bought a crochet version of the same book (it has different patterns, but also slouchy hats) and I hope to make at least one of them this month to wear.
I started a hat using this same pattern. It was the very first time I've ever knitted, and it took me 3 hours to knit the first 6 rows. Then my mum grabbed some wool and started the same hat. I told her to only go as far as I was, and to stick to the same bit I'm working on as I make the hat. However, she decided one evening a week or so later that it was taking too long, so she sat down and finished it that night.
My hat is still sitting there at the point where the ribbing around the bottom stops. I hope to finish it to wear later in the mont :)
Above are the coolest hand warmers I have ever seen. My mum made these in about a week (mind you, only knitting in the evenings when she had some free time!)
They have a beautiful lace pattern, and are absolutely the warmest hand warmers ever.
I'm a bit scared to wear them, cos they are so beautiful, I really don't want to ruin them, actually!
So here's to you mum, you are the world's most talented knitter, and you make the most beautiful items, and make it look so easy while doing it!! I am truely jealous of your talents, and hopefully one day, with tons of practice, I can be half as good :)

Today's Me Made Item:
I know, I didn't actually make this, but I restyled it. The swallow charm is from a $1 charm bracelet that Cotton On sells a selection of for charity. I bought two of the same charm bracelets, cos I love swallows as jewellery and motivs, and thought straight away that they would be the perfect size for earrings and necklaces.
I bought a bunch of the other charms too, I will probably be wearing them later in the month :)

Today's Me Made item:
A "Dress" that I made myself spontaneously last year. All fabrics bought cheap at another Nyne Workroom sale. The burnout panels at the hem are from a piece that cost me $1.
Unfortunately, I used a rib fabric that was quite thick for the binding, so the sleeve hems have gone a bit puffy as the binding was stretched on. However, for a garment that I made the pattern for in about 1/2 an hour (by adapting another pattern I had made for myself previously), I think it didn't turn out too bad :)
It has princess lines, and extended shoulder sleeves (not seperate sleeves). It is very comfortable to wear, and quite nice and warm on a windy day like today!
Thanks Nyne for having awesome workroom sales with amazing fabrics for me to use! I shall be using more of them this month to boost my wardrobe for Me Made May!

My first post for Me-Made-May. I found this challenge through a friend, fellow blogger Mallory of Cocos Closet http://cocosweetpea.blogspot.co.nz.
Updated: Here is the photo of Me-Made-May 01/05/2012
I wore a vest I made myself from some Nyne fabric and some fabric that was part of my final collection at tech. It has a frayed edge at the hem and is reversable (You will be seeing me wearing the other side this month, since I don't have enough pieces to wear for that much variation).
I will also be posting blogs about creations that I am making specially for Me-Made-May at some point. I already have a pattern made for a vest I was hoping to make last weekend, only to be prevented from doing so by being sick. Alas, it shall have to wait till this coming weekend!
I will try post a photo of todays outfit tomorrow, or on the Facebook.
Me-Made-May is starting splendidly! :)
